Connect an AI assistant
Paste one address into your AI assistant, approve SnapCount once in your browser, and ask for each store's or worker's count and the daily report. On Pro and Enterprise.

Connect an assistant
An AI assistant connected to SnapCount reads your live counts and reports, so you can ask it for yesterday's number for each store, next to last week, instead of adding up tally sheets.
Open the setup page
Go to snapcount.app/mcp and pick your assistant. Each one has its own steps there, with the exact menu or config it uses.
Copy the server address
Copy
https://api.snapcount.app/mcp. It is the same address for every assistant.Add it to your assistant
Add it wherever your assistant lists remote MCP servers or custom connectors, and choose OAuth if it asks. There is no API key. Leave any OAuth Client ID and Client Secret fields blank: the assistant registers itself.
Approve the connection
Your browser opens SnapCount. Sign in if asked. The screen names the assistant, the web address it returns to, and what it will be able to do. Check the address matches the assistant you are setting up, then approve it.
Plans
- Anyone signed in can open the approval screen. Approving needs at least one organization on Pro or Enterprise.
- The assistant answers only for your organizations on Pro or Enterprise. Ask about one on the trial or the free plan and it says so.
- Each report keeps its plan, as in Reports and exports: busiest times, counts by person, and every count with its time are Enterprise.
Compare them in Plans and limits.
What it can do
Six tools, and nothing outside them. Four only read. Two create, and neither changes or removes anything.
| Tool | What it does | Needs |
|---|---|---|
list_organizations | List your organizations, your role, and each one's plan | Any member |
list_counters | Show every counter's live count, and each group's total | Pro or Enterprise |
get_report | Report on up to 90 days: a snapshot, the daily report, busiest times, counts by person, or every count with its time | Snapshot and daily: Pro or Enterprise. The rest: Enterprise |
list_live_links | List the live counting links that are running | Pro or Enterprise |
create_counters | Create one group of up to 50 counters, one per store, door or worker | Pro or Enterprise, and write access |
start_live_link | Start a live link and QR code for up to 30 counters, which anyone can count on without an account | An owner or admin |
The permissions you approve
The approval screen lists what the assistant asks for, in these words:
- See your organizations, counters, live totals, reports and live links (
counters:read). - Create counters and start live counting links (
counters:write).
An assistant that asks for nothing in particular gets both, and the screen always shows what it gets. It acts as you: it sees the organizations and counters you see, with your role, and on Enterprise only the counters you have access to.
What it never does
- It cannot add to, subtract from, reset, undo or set a count. The counting stays on your team's phones.
- It cannot delete or archive counters, remove members, change roles, or touch billing.
- It cannot see an organization you are not a member of.
- Every call it makes is recorded for 90 days, and it can make up to 300 calls an hour.
Ready-made prompts
Assistants that show ready-made prompts, often as a slash command or a menu, list three from SnapCount. A prompt only gives the assistant the steps, and the tools keep their own rules.
- Daily report: each store's or worker's count for the day, next to the same weekday a week earlier, with any unit that has no counts flagged. Ready to send up the chain.
- Weekly review: totals per unit per week, the best and worst units, and the trend.
- Set up counting: proposes counters, creates them once you agree, then starts a live link and hands back the link for the team.
Or ask in your own words:
- Write yesterday's report: each store's foot traffic and how it compares to the same day last week.
- Which builder had the most pallets this week, and who is behind?
- Set up counters for Main St, Oak Ave and Pier 39 and give me the link for the staff.
Disconnect an assistant
Open Settings, then Developers, then AI assistants (go there). It lists each connected assistant, what it may do, when it was last used, and its recent calls. Disconnect one and its next call fails. To use it again, connect it again from the assistant.
Troubleshooting
- It asks for an OAuth Client ID or Client Secret. Leave both blank. The assistant registers itself with SnapCount, so there is nothing to look up or paste.
- It says the connection needs Pro or Enterprise. None of your organizations is on Pro or Enterprise, or the one you asked about is on the trial or the free plan. Upgrade the organization, then approve again or ask again. If the approval screen has expired by then, start again from the assistant.
- It asks which organization you mean. You belong to several organizations on Pro or Enterprise. Tell it the name, or ask it to list your organizations.
- It says a report needs Enterprise. Busiest times, counts by person, and every count with its time are Enterprise reports, in the app and through an assistant.
- It cannot start a live link. Starting one needs an owner or admin of the organization.
- It says it is not authorized. It was disconnected, or the approval never finished. Connect it again from the assistant and finish the step in the browser.
- The approval screen says the request is not valid. It expired or was already used. Start again from the assistant.
- It says to wait. It made more than 300 calls in an hour. It can try again after the time it is given.
Building your own client? The MCP server docs cover OAuth, the tools, and the errors.
